Libido takes over for two neighbors who are bored being housewives and mothers. Director Chloé Robichard had playright Catherine Léger adapt and update her Quebecoise stage play “Two Women in Gold,” into this clever comedy. Although it’s in French with English subtitles, you’ll understand exactly what’s going on.Two female neighbors in Montreal figure out how to take advantage of sexy opportunities for their own personal excitement and satisfaction. And the way they manipulate each situation is very comical.

Neighbors Violette (Laurence Leboeuf) and Florence (Karine Gonthier-Hyndman) bond over the ennui of parenthood, but as their interaction develops, they also realize that they no longer have that “joie de vivre” and desires they had when they were younger.
As a variety of workmen come to their building, they either get in the way, flirt, or do whatever silly things they have to do to seduce the attractive males who show up in their apartment. Instead of feeling guilt, they revel in the ability to get satisfaction and attention they may not be getting from their own men at home. They use manipulation, flirtatious, sexy and funny ways to seduce the working-men who come to check their electricity, to clean their carpets, or whatever. These 2 women figure out how to get them so hot and distracted, they end up in bed or even on the floor together.

The film won the Special Jury Prize at Sundance with the cast including Sophie Nélisse, Juliette Gariépy, Mani Soleymanlou and Félix Moati. Leboeuf and Gonthier-Hyndman are entertaining as two horny Moms who figure out how to bring spice to their lives. You may not want your husband or boyfriend to watch this. But it’s cute, outlandish, intriguing, graphic and somewhat satisfying.
