Studio One Forever film director Marc Saltarelli along with Hollywood Writer Bruce Vilanch tell MoviesandShakers about Scott Forbes and the history of the first gay disco in Los Angeles. They talk about the celebrities who came to this hot spot in the 1970’s which came to be where gay men could take off their shirts, and dance all night, meeting men like themselves and be themselves. Forbes created a stage in a Back Lot showroom where Hollywoods gay and straight celebrities, men and women, loved to come to see all kinds of talent, from puppeteers to singers and comics. At this time, AIDS was spreading like wildfire and became catastrophic for the gay community. It took its toll become a crisis that reportedly took the lives of 10 thousand gay men who frequented the club.
Studio One Forever – This documentary gives a the history of the first gay disco attracted thousands of men who could dance till they dropped. It became a huge hit with celebrities who talk about going to the club on a regular basis. It was attended by Hollywood royalty including Rock Hudson, Cary Grant, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, to Joan Rivers, Bette Davis and Chita Riviera who came to see new and famous talent they couldn’t see anywhere else. Plus, it was a comfortable place where they could see and be seen, and have fun.
